Equipment Manufacturer Product Development Case Study
Business Objective:
A manufacturer of dispensing equipment sought new product ideas.
Research Objective:
Research was designed to uncover end-user needs and generate new product ideas.
Methodology:
A three-phase qualitative research study was conducted:
- Focus groups were conducted with end-users to explore their needs
- Ideation sessions among the manufacturer's employees from various departments were held to generate new product ideas.
- Additional focus groups were conducted to explore end-user reaction to 14 product concepts (including illustrations) that were developed based on the information obtained in the first phases of the study.
The Result:
The information from this study not only produced new product ideas but assisted the manufacturer in evaluating the likelihood of the success of the ideas, enabling more efficient and effective allocation of development resources.
