Account Executive
We seek an Account Executive with excellent research and communication skills (oral and written). The successful candidate will be an organized, detail oriented individual with strong account management skills and high professional standards and ethics. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with leaders in a variety of service industries in both B2B and consumer companies.
Specific requirements include:
- Demonstrated commitment to exceptional client service (as evidenced by client references/feedback)
- Ability to write strategic proposals that communicate both qualitative and quantitative research expertise
- Experience selling marketing research and servicing assigned and targeted accounts, including developing and executing sales strategies
- Ability to think creatively and work consultatively to address business issues through research information
- Ability to gain and develop new clients, including developing a strategic plan for selling to accounts without pre-existing relationships
- Active engagement in learning about clients’ industries and our industry
- Ability to present information concisely and clearly (both written and verbal)
- 6+ years marketing research experience, minimum 3-5 years in a sales and account management position
- MBA, MMR OR PhD in related field preferred
Specific responsibilities include:
- Developing strategies for obtaining new and further penetrating existing accounts
- Qualifying prospects
- Cold calling to gain new accounts as well as calling on existing accounts to increase penetration
- Engage clients in meaningful dialogue about their challenges and business/research needs
- Communicate clients’ needs, challenges, requirements, and specifications to others at CMI articulately and in a way that enables the organization to take action and be responsive
- Documenting and reporting on sales activities, both for accountability and organizational learning purposes
- Actively seeking opportunities to promote CMI and raise its profile in the marketing research industry (e.g., by identifying meetings/conferences at which CMI should be present and identifying speaking and publishing opportunities)
- Providing input to CMI’s marketing plan regarding industry and client targets, strategies, and opportunities
- Working closely with the Sales and Marketing Group to identify products, materials, and positioning to facilitate diversifying and expanding CMI’s customer base
- Working closely with Account Managers to advise on account development and collaborate on new opportunities that arise within the account (e.g., share industry and specific client knowledge)
- Identify CMI’s competition, track competitive developments, and communicate competitive intelligence that will assist CMI in anticipating industry trends and staying ahead of the curve with respect to its products and services
